Working with soapstone is very easy.

The desired (raw-) shape can be sculpted from the stone using the file and coarse sandpaper.

To apply the finer details you can use the knife.

If you are satisfied with the shape then the careful sanding of your piece of art starts.
To get a smooth and scratch free result, start with the coarse grit sandpaper. Create a smooth surface. Repeat the sanding, each time with finer grit sized sandpaper.
The finest grit sized sandpaper will get you to a polished result.
To get an optimal result and to prevent scratches from stone dust, you can use the sandpaper under water.

Finally you can use the color intensifying fluid for the finishing. Make sure that the stone is completely dry. Use a soft dry cloth to apply fluid and be careful not to scratch the surface. Repeat the treatment several times until you get the desired result.
